Like so many of Houston’s institutions, the new offices of Architecture Center Houston were significantly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The interior construction, started in February 2017 and just three weeks from completion, was flooded with over 4 feet of water during this catastrophic event. While ArCH received $257,000 of insurance money, actual damages totaled $936,000. In the Fall 2018, the leadership staff and Board of Directors of Architecture Center Houston initiated a campaign to raise $1,000,000 for rebuilding the space, enhancing flood mitigation strategies and growing its endowment.
Join this campaign and help ArCH rebuild, move into its new space and fulfill its mission of enriching the lives of those who live and visit here.
The mission of Architecture Center Houston (ArCH) is to promote awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the ways in which architecture, design and urban planning influence and enhance the quality of life in our community. Architecture Center Houston is a dedicated venue in the city for the public, both Houston residents and tourists, to learn about architecture and design in general and the built environment of greater Houston. Our role is to educate the community on the benefits of good design and advocate for community engagement in creating well-designed environments that support their needs and aspirations.
